  1. I love this edge. BTW, do you know how much yardage you used for this edge? I imagine it’s a lot less than the cabled edge.

  2. You must be so proud, what a beautiful piece of work this is. Is this pattern in any other hard cover book, or was there just one block in several of the Knitters magazines?

  3. Joan, I bought a booklet with all of the patterns from my LYS. Amazon
carries it (http://www.amazon.com/Great-American-Aran-Afghan/dp/1893762173/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-3395079-9910522?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175549592&sr=8-1) and I believe that even
    A.C. Moore had copies.

  7. I’m completing my 10th square from the book using the Encore yarn. It’s working fine for me – really considered wool which I love, but I do want to be able to wash it. I plan to use the afghan next winter – this one is mine.
I decided not to mess with two of the very difficult squares. I substituted squares from the pillow designs. This is such a wonderful afghan. I haven’t knitted in years and all of my skills are coming back. I love your finished work – seeing it will keep me going at a one – two square pace each week.

  10. I am interested in knowing how much yarn it takes to do the garter stitch border and also the cable stitch border for the Great Amercian Aran Afghan. I am also wondering if you feel #256 is the best choice for color or is there a better color in plymouth encore which you like better? How do I get into your blog to find the answers to the above peoples questions?Thankyou and have a nice day. Wendy.

  11. Hello Susan. I am deciding on color choice, quality, and softness for the great american aran afghan. I would like my afghan to look like the front cover picture of The Great American Aran Afghan paper back book for color and texture. That would match my living room.If you could look under XRX Great American Aran Afghan Kit- Home Accessories Kits at Jimmy Beans Wool it says color shown is Lana d’Oro color 1030(ecru). they suggest Ecru or Off-White. The front cover of the paper back looks creamy or more off white and not the color of cascade #8010. I need to know what yarn and color was used for the front cover of the paper back and I am ready set go. Is this choice of yarn just as good as cascade 200? Is it a little softer, and do you have other good choices? Thankyou so much for your help, greatly appreciated. I am sooo excited!! Wendy.

  12. I am having a hard time knitting the DNA Square. I keep on getting the wrong directions for the DNA strands. I have tried different ways but I invariably fail.
